Daddy's Little Girl

Daddy’s little girl's on the corner
Daddy’s little girl's on the street
Daddy’s little girl’s on her back now
Get herself back on her feet

Cause Daddy’s little girl…
Is a woman now
And Daddy’s little girl’s all alone
But this little girl's gotta stand up
And make it on her own

Daddy’s little girl needs some money
Daddy’s little girl needs some sleep
Daddy’s little girl wants to cry out for help
But crying's not gonna bring her no peace

Cause Daddy’s little girl…
Is a woman now
And Daddy’s little girl’s all alone
But this little girl's gotta stand up
And make it on her own

Cause Daddy’s little girl…
Is a woman now
And Daddy’s little girl’s all alone
But this little girl's gotta stand up
And make it all on her own

Cause she's gonna stand up
She's gonna make it
She's got the guts, she can take it
yeah, this little girl's gonna stand up
And make it on her own

Kari Hillborne’s path to being a blues performer was a crooked road. She had never sung the blues – or any other genre – before joining the band. Her only real experience in life was being a reality show star and the spoiled daughter of a billionaire.

So it made perfect sense that her first effort and at songwriting resulted in a song that established her independence from her wealthy family.

Daddy’s little Girl is about a rich girl who had to lose everything before she could find herself.

She wrote the song shortly after learning the basic structure of 12-bar blues, taking a poem she’d previously written and reshaping it to fit this bold new arrangement she had discovered.
