Mr. Steady

We call him Mr. Steady - We call him Mr. Strong
We call him when we need a beat for the song
We call him Mr. Steady - We call him Mr. Strong
We call him when we need a beat for the song

I said we call him Mr. Steady
And we call him all the time
Putting down the beat boys, lay it on the line

We call him Mr. Funky - We call him Mr. Jazz
Gets behind his kit and he gives it all he has
We call him Mr. Funky - We call him Mr. Jazz
Gets behind his kit and he gives it all he has

I said we call him Mr. Steady
And we call him all the time
Putting down the beat boys, lay it on the line

We call him Dr Rhythm - We call him Mr Blues
Cos he's a human beat box beating out the news
We call him Dr Rhythm - We call him Mr Blues
Cos he's a human beat box beating out the news

I said we call him Mr. Steady
And we call him all the time
Putting down the beat boys, lay it on the line

I said we call him Mr. Steady
And we call him all the time
Putting down the beat boys, lay it on the line

Mr. Steady could be considered Isaiah Greene’s theme song. It also could be regarded as the theme of any blues drummer. Drummers are, after all, the heart of a blues band. The song was conceived as a tribute from Greene’s younger brother, intended to pay homage to the steady beats he’d grown up hearing as a child.
